Former CSN tennis player Kaitlin Quevedo wins first WTA title

She made headlines earlier this year when she defeated Venus Williams at the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid as a wild card. She also earned her first grand slam victory in the first round of Roland Garros.

Quevedo's first title comes just eight months after her WTA main draw debut in Auckland, New Zealand.

How did Quevedo win the title in Sao Paolo?

Quevedo defeated world No. 317 Nadia Podoroska 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the final of the clay court tournament on Monday.

The championship match was scheduled for Sunday but was delayed because of rain.

Quevedo defeated her first three opponents in straight sets before downing fourth-seed Anna Blinkova 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in the semifinals.
