Jayden Daniels will sit out Sunday against Seattle and see specialists after re-injuring his left elbow, with no return date set, per coach Dan Quinn.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will not play in Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks, and head coach Dan Quinn said Monday there is no timetable for his return after he re-injured his left elbow.
Daniels was hurt in the first half of Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys when his elbow bent backward as he was accidentally stepped on by a teammate. He was taken off the field on a cart. Initial X-rays showed no fracture, and the 25-year-old will meet with specialists this week after Monday's imaging to determine the extent of the damage. Quinn said he had no answer yet on what the specialists would recommend.
It is the same elbow Daniels dislocated last season, part of an injury-hit 2025 campaign in which backup Marcus Mariota made 11 appearances, including eight starts. Mariota will again fill in when Washington faces reigning champion Seattle on Sunday.
Quinn pushed back on the idea that Daniels is especially prone to injury, calling the play a freak occurrence and noting the quarterback added size and strength in the offseason to protect himself.
Elsewhere, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is expected to miss time after hurting a hamstring late in Sunday's loss to Minnesota. Bears coach Ben Johnson described it as a week-to-week situation. Minnesota quarterback Kyler Murray, meanwhile, has cleared the concussion protocol and will start Sunday at Tampa Bay after missing one game.
