Washington is expected to turn to Marcus Mariota in Week 3 against Seattle while Jayden Daniels' dislocated elbow is evaluated.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels left Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys with a dislocated left elbow and was carted off the field. It is the second dislocated elbow in as many seasons for the quarterback, who was replaced by veteran Marcus Mariota.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Mariota is expected to start Sunday's Week 3 game against the Seattle Seahawks while the team continues gathering information on Daniels' injury. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Daniels underwent imaging Monday and will consult with several specialists in the coming days to map out his recovery.
Schefter also reported that Daniels' potential return timeline resembles his 2025 elbow injury, which kept him out for four weeks. Head coach Dan Quinn said after the game that the team would rally around Mariota until Daniels is able to return.
Daniels had opened the season productively despite back-to-back losses, throwing for 260 yards and three touchdowns while adding 100 rushing yards and a score in roughly a game and a half. Mariota completed 11 of 16 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown in relief on Sunday.
