McDuffie shuts down Nabers as Rams roll past Giants 28-6

Trent McDuffie held Malik Nabers without a catch when matched up and picked off a pass in the Rams' Week 2 win on Monday Night Football.

Cornerback Trent McDuffie was the difference-maker in the Los Angeles Rams' 28-6 victory over the New York Giants at SoFi Stadium on Monday Night Football. Malik Nabers, playing in just his second game since tearing his right ACL and missing the final 13 weeks of the 2025 season, managed a single one-yard catch on four targets.

Per the matchup data, McDuffie lined up across from Nabers on 21 of his 34 coverage snaps. On the three passes thrown Nabers' way in those situations, none were completed — two were broken up and one turned into a second-quarter interception, McDuffie's first since joining the Rams. NextGen Stats credited him with 32.8 seconds of tight coverage, the second-highest single-game figure of his five-year career.

The performance came on a night when Aaron Donald returned from a two-year retirement. Rams head coach Sean McVay called McDuffie "a stud" and praised his composure in coverage. The St. John Bosco High School product had already impressed in the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia, earning Pro Football Focus grades of 83.6 overall and 85.4 in coverage.

Los Angeles generated a 66.7% pass rush win rate per Next Gen Stats despite missing Myles Garrett. Donald recorded a tackle for loss, as did Byron Young, while Nate Landman posted seven total tackles to tie safety Quentin Lake for the team lead.
