VSiN host rips Belichick over terse sideline interview with Buonantony

Jonathan Von Tobel defended ESPN sideline reporter Stormy Buonantony after North Carolina coach Bill Belichick gave her short answers during a game interview.

ESPN sideline reporter Stormy Buonantony drew attention on Saturday after an in-game interview with North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick produced short, flat responses. Speaking on the broadcast afterward, she joked that she had "made it out alive" and noted the exchange felt very different from their longer conversation earlier in the week.

Buonantony also appears on the VSiN program Money Moves, and on Monday's episode her co-host Jonathan Von Tobel came to her defense. He argued that Belichick, who had been friendly in a roughly 50-minute meeting with the broadcast crew on Friday, had acted unprofessionally by pretending not to hear her during the televised interview.

Buonantony confirmed that Friday's session had been much warmer, describing it as "story time with Bill" and calling the sideline encounter a different experience.

Von Tobel said he was the one allowed to ignore people on purpose, not Belichick, and closed by saying he was glad North Carolina lost the game. Belichick has not publicly responded to the criticism.
