Cincinnati Girls Golf Sectionals Set District Fields for OHSAA Postseason

Sectional rounds across Southwest Ohio decided which girls golf teams and individuals advance to Division I and II district tournaments.

Girls golf teams and individuals across Cincinnati and Southwest Ohio have begun the Ohio High School Athletic Association postseason. Sectional tournaments in Divisions I and II started September 14, with Division II district play set for Heatherwoode on September 30 and Division I following on October 6.

In Division I play at Walden Ponds on September 15, Sycamore and Lakota East each shot 316 in the morning grouping, with Sycamore taking first on its fifth golfer's score. Lakota East junior Jenna Schmidt was the individual medalist with a 70, one shot ahead of Sycamore freshman Savanna Blackmore. Walnut Hills (326) and Anderson (346) also qualified as teams, while St. Ursula's Brooke Roettker (75) led the individual qualifiers.

Ursuline Academy won the afternoon grouping at Walden Ponds with a 321, followed by Seton (343), Mason (355) and Wyoming (358). Ursuline's Leah Mulcahy shot 77 to win individually, with Little Miami's Lauren Perry one of several golfers advancing as individuals.

Badin won its sectional at the WGC tournament with a 327, its first sectional title since moving up to Division I, behind a 79 from Taylor Zoz. Lebanon's Olivia Donovan shot a 68 to win the individual title by eight strokes. In Division II at Reeves on September 17, Madeira's Ellie Hartung and Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy's Sophia Fink tied for the sectional championship at 71, with Bethel-Tate's Abby Kelley third at 73. Madeira won the team title at 340.

At the Division II WGC sectional on September 16, Middletown Christian's Christina Morris (74) and Karsyn Meier (75) finished first and second to lead the district qualifiers.
