Lens Turn to Interim Boss Cahuzac After Toppmöller Exit
The short version
- Yannick Cahuzac was named Lens interim manager three days before the match at Monaco
- Dino Toppmöller left the club after six games in charge
- Cahuzac previously served as Franck Haise's assistant at Lens in 2022-23
- Lens finished second in Ligue 1 and won the Coupe de France last season under Pierre Sage
Yannick Cahuzac took charge of Lens just three days before Friday's Ligue 1 match at Monaco following Dino Toppmöller's sudden departure.
Lens named Yannick Cahuzac as interim manager last week, and he was in the dugout Friday night when the club visited Monaco at the Stade Louis II. His appointment came three days before the match, in the wake of Dino Toppmöller's abrupt departure.
Toppmöller's exit came just six games into his time in charge, leaving the seat Cahuzac occupied at Monaco unexpectedly vacant. Cahuzac had joined the Lens staff at the end of last season after working as Olivier Pantaloni's assistant at Lorient.
Cahuzac has deep ties to the club. He finished his playing career at Lens and later served as Franck Haise's assistant during the 2022-23 campaign before returning last year.
Lens are trying to build on a strong run under Pierre Sage, which included a second-place Ligue 1 finish last season and a Coupe de France title.
