Oklahoma All-American DT David Stone hurt in Monday practice

Sooners defensive tackle David Stone, an All-American and team leader, went down with a lower-body injury during Monday's practice, per reports.

Oklahoma defensive tackle David Stone was hurt during Monday's practice, with multiple outlets describing the ailment as a lower-body injury. George Stoia of SoonerScoop and On3 was first with the report, and John Hoover of Sooners on SI corroborated it.

The extent of the problem is not yet known, and Stone is expected to have additional testing done Tuesday morning. Head coach Brent Venables may provide an update when he speaks with reporters at his weekly press conference that day.

A former in-state recruit who developed into one of the program's central figures this offseason, Stone has opened the 2026 campaign strongly. Pro Football Focus credits him with the second-most snaps among the Sooners' defensive linemen, and his three-game totals include 12 tackles, two tackles for loss and half a sack.

Oklahoma has already lost a number of contributors to injury since fall camp opened. Should Stone miss significant time, Bishop Thomas, a transfer, would likely carry a heavier workload up front alongside Jayden Jackson, with Boise State transfer Braxton Fely a candidate for reps at defensive tackle.
