Williams Week-to-Week, Daniels Out as QB Injuries Pile Up

Chicago's Caleb Williams may not miss a game, while Washington's Jayden Daniels will sit out Week 3 and meet with specialists about his elbow.

Two of the league's promising young passers were hurt on Sunday. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams exited Chicago's 9-3 home defeat against Minnesota with a hamstring issue that came without contact, and coach Ben Johnson told reporters Monday the quarterback is viewed as week-to-week.

Johnson does not anticipate Williams practicing this week, though he declined to say the 24-year-old would definitely miss the Week 3 matchup with Philadelphia. Williams has connected on 65.5% of his throws this season for 407 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, adding 107 yards and two scores on the ground.

Washington's situation is murkier. Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow just before halftime of a 37-20 loss at Dallas — the same injury that cost him time a year ago — and coach Dan Quinn confirmed the quarterback will not play Sunday against Seattle, with Marcus Mariota stepping in. Sunday's X-rays showed no fracture, and Daniels was scheduled to meet specialists Tuesday and Wednesday after additional imaging Monday.

Elsewhere, Kyler Murray has completed the concussion protocol and will start for the 2-0 Vikings in Tampa Bay after Carson Wentz threw three touchdown passes in relief. Atlanta, off to an 0-2 start while Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa recover, gets Penix back Thursday night in Green Bay for his first game since ACL surgery last November.
