Manchester City climbed to the summit of the Premier League on Sunday with a 5-3 home win over Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium, but manager Enzo Maresca brushed aside any suggestion that his side had taken control of the title race.
Maresca described such talk as premature with the campaign still young. "I prefer to win 1-0 than 5-3 but expected a difficult game," he said of the high-scoring contest.
The result leaves City on 15 points from their first five league fixtures, a three-point cushion over Arsenal, who suffered defeat at Brighton on Saturday. Semenyo found the net twice for City in the victory.
The league now pauses for a three-week international break, with City having gone top before the interruption.
