Giants QB Jaxson Dart exits with left knee injury against Rams

Jaxson Dart limped off and went to the locker room after taking a hit on his left knee during New York's first possession Monday night.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart left Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Rams with a left knee injury suffered on the team's opening possession.

Dart was hurt on a third-down throw while under pressure. As he jumped to release a pass downfield, he was hit and caught between multiple players, with his knee taking contact. He stayed down briefly, holding his left knee in visible pain, before getting up and limping off the field without help.

Head coach John Harbaugh came onto the field to check on Dart, who then walked to the locker room as the Giants' next series began. Jameis Winston took over at quarterback in his place.

Dart was a first-round pick in the previous year's draft and showed promise as a rookie, though his first season included some health issues, among them concussions. There was no immediate word on the severity of the knee injury.
