Report: Manchester United's Carrick Given Until November International Break

A report says INEOS will keep Michael Carrick in charge until the November international break, with Eddie Howe keen on the job.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is reportedly facing a deadline to save his job. According to a widely shared post on X, the club's ownership group INEOS has decided not to make a change during the current international break and will instead give Carrick until the next one in November to improve results.

Carrick took over from Ruben Amorim in January and was given the permanent role after an upturn in results. This season has gone poorly, with United winning just once in five Premier League matches and sitting 12th in the table. They were also eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Brighton after letting a two-goal lead slip, and drew 1-1 at Fulham on Sunday thanks to a late Matheus Cunha equaliser.

The report claims there are growing concerns inside the squad that Carrick is not the right fit, and that the feeling within Old Trafford is that the question is when, not if, he departs.

Eddie Howe, who has been without a club since leaving Newcastle in the summer, is described as very keen to take over at United should the call come. The 48-year-old was previously labelled a top manager by Pep Guardiola.

United's upcoming schedule includes home games against Tottenham and a Champions League trip to Atletico Madrid, followed by an away match at Leeds United and a visit to Cesc Fabregas' Como.
