Indianapolis added the former Giants wide receiver on Monday after Pierce went down with a heel injury in Sunday night's loss to Kansas City.
The Indianapolis Colts have signed veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The move comes after wideout Alec Pierce suffered an ankle/heel injury in the Colts' Week 2 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.
Pierce entered the 2026 season as Indianapolis's top receiver after signing a four-year, $114 million contract in the offseason. The injury was to the same area he had dealt with before the season began, and the team now expects to be without him for a period of time.
Slayton, 29, spent his first seven NFL seasons with the New York Giants, who released him just before the start of the regular season. In Indianapolis, he reunites with quarterback Daniel Jones, a fellow member of the Giants' 2019 draft class.
In 106 career games, Slayton has 296 receptions for 4,435 yards and 22 touchdowns. Last season he appeared in 14 games, catching 37 passes for 538 yards and one score.
The Colts host the AFC South rival Houston Texans in Week 3. It is not yet known whether Slayton will be available for that game.
