Giants QB Jaxson Dart exits Monday night game with knee injury

New York's starter left the Week 2 matchup against the Rams and did not return, with head coach John Harbaugh offering no update on the severity at halftime.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart left Monday night's Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Rams with an apparent knee injury and was ruled out for the rest of the contest.

Dart landed awkwardly on his leg and was checked in the medical tent on the sideline before heading to the locker room. Jameis Winston stepped in at quarterback for the Giants.

Head coach John Harbaugh declined to give any indication of how serious the injury might be when questioned at halftime at SoFi Stadium. "We're just focused on the second half, trying to find a way to win the game," he told reporters. "We're not thinking about that right now."

The team is expected to conduct further testing to determine the extent of the damage to Dart's knee. Dart, a first-round pick in 2025, took over as the starter in Week 4 of his rookie year and threw for 2,272 yards and 15 touchdowns while adding 487 rushing yards and a franchise-record nine rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.

He opened the 2026 season with 230 passing yards and three total touchdowns in a Week 1 win over Dallas.
