Duke defensive end Kevin O'Connor has been named ACC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week after a standout showing in the Blue Devils' 35-7 victory over Stanford on Saturday. He finished the game with two sacks, two tackles for loss and a forced fumble as Duke limited the Cardinal to 237 total yards and one touchdown.
O'Connor's first career sack came in the opening quarter, when he brought down Stanford quarterback Davis Warren. He struck again later with another sack of Warren, knocking the ball loose. Teammate Kendall Johnson recovered the fumble at the Stanford 35-yard line, and Duke reached the end zone six plays later to push its advantage to 14-0.
The honor is the latest in a string of weekly ACC awards for the Blue Devils this season. Duke players have now earned five ACC Player of the Week selections at their positions in three weeks, including running back Nate Sheppard in each of the first two weeks, offensive lineman Nick Del Grande after Week 2, and defensive lineman Bryce Davis in Week 1.
