The former Kansas City practice-squad quarterback, who made two starts last season, heads to the CFL with a chance to compete for a starting role.
The B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League announced Monday that they have signed quarterback Chris Oladokun, who had been a free agent since the Kansas City Chiefs released him at final roster cuts.
Oladokun spent 2022 through 2025 on the Chiefs' practice squad after joining the team when the Pittsburgh Steelers waived him. He saw action last season when Patrick Mahomes and backup Gardner Minshew were injured, appearing in three games with two starts. He completed 35 of 55 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown and added 23 rushing yards.
Lions general manager Ryan Rigmaiden said the team had tracked Oladokun for years, dating back to his release from Pittsburgh, and believes he can strengthen the quarterback room both now and in the future.
Oladokun's departure came as the Chiefs retooled their quarterback room, trading for Justin Fields and drafting Garrett Nussmeier in the seventh round. The practice-squad spot went to the rookie Nussmeier.
