Writing on Instagram, Marchisio said Mazzola is part of Italian football history and that rivalry should never override respect, adding that many in the stadium and watching from home responded with applause.

At Napoli, Il Mattino reports that Massimiliano Allegri erupted in the dressing room following the draw with Fiorentina, punching walls and shouting at players over a performance he viewed as far below the standard of an ambitious team. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan coach Ruben Amorim has given eight days off to players not on international duty, with the group due back at Milanello on September 29. With 15 players away with their national teams, members of Milan Futuro will join training sessions on that date.
