Rams Roll Past Giants 28-6 as Pass Rush, Secondary Struggle

Los Angeles overwhelmed New York on both lines of scrimmage, sacking pressure and a 195-yard Davante Adams night driving a 28-6 home loss for the Giants.

The Los Angeles Rams handed the New York Giants a 28-6 defeat that extended well beyond the final margin. Rams edge rushers Josaiah Stewart and Byron Young beat tackles Andrew Thomas and Jermaine Eluemunor on one early play, folding quarterback Jaxson Dart's knee inward and forcing him from the game. Los Angeles pressured Dart on half of his dropbacks despite facing double teams aimed at Aaron Donald.

Relief quarterback Jameis Winston struggled after entering, often leaving throws short while throwing off his back foot. The Giants managed just 52 rushing yards on 21 carries, with Cam Skattebo gaining 36 on 12 attempts and Najee Harris adding 6 on four in his season debut. Harris was tackled for a loss by Donald on a third-and-2 run inside the 10 on New York's lone red-zone threat.

New York's own pass rush barely registered. Abdul Carter recorded the team's only sack, and Matthew Stafford operated from a clean pocket all night. Rams running backs combined for 164 yards on 24 carries, and edge containment issues resurfaced as the game went on. Brian Burns left late with an ankle injury.

Playing without injured cornerbacks Deonte Banks and Paulson Adebo, the Giants secondary was repeatedly exposed even with Puka Nacua sidelined for Los Angeles. Davante Adams caught 8 of 10 targets for 195 yards and two touchdowns, frequently running free, while tight end Terrance Ferguson added six receptions. Jevon Holland provided a bright spot with an interception and two forced fumbles.

The bright spot for New York was the kicking game. Dominic Zvada made both field goal attempts, including a 52-yarder, after going 4-for-4 on extra points in the opener, and punter Jordan Stout averaged 52.5 yards on six punts, dropping three inside the 20 and booming one 78 yards.
